Vintage Designer Scarves

I am a scarf junky. I simply can not resist gliding my fingers through a basket of scarves and pulling up something silky smooth and artfully created that I get to wear. A scarf is the perfect "I'm running out the door and I need SOMETHING" accessory. Vintage scarves are even better.

Here are some new & old finds, all beautiful and ready for spring.

Elegant silk roses in shades of blue & pink, hand rolled edges, Liz Claiborne, 1970s.

Psychedelic Florals by Sally Gee, Paris. Buttery yellow chiffon, hand rolled edges, 1960s.

Abstract checker scarf, hand stitched edges, Elsa Schiaparelli, 1970s.

Paisley Moons & Stars: silk Anne Klein scarf, 70s 80s.

While these are on their way, there are more in the shop. Enjoy! d, xo

New Spring Dresses, Vintage 2013

Today was all about washing, ironing & shooting photos. It was such a warm day I pulled the ironing board outside. Me, the dogs, coffee & some meditative ironing.
These new dresses will be coming to Dahlila Found as fast as I can get them posted.

Mod floral scarf from Argentina, hand rolled edges. Stunning.

Psychedelic caftan, satiny, bold, eclectic.

Mod geometric print top, rayon, Wild print. I love the white round zipper pull.

Floral spring sun dress with a bow. Needs a big floppy hat. (color is true to the left photo, buttery yellow.)

Vibrant silk floral wiggle dress with ruching & floral bow. Stunning!

Stay tuned to Dahlila Found for more fashion, dresses, blouses, skirts & of course, accessories!

Vera Neumann

Recently I asked a woman if her handmade coasters where made with vintage Vera fabric. She said, "I don't think Vera Wang makes pillow cases...." Where was I to go with that? I gasped, inside, because, really, who was I to judge her having only discovered Vera--Vera Neumann--several years before.

Trust me, this woman will never make that mistake again, as I shared what I knew with her--a pittance of what you know, perhaps. (Why is it that Vera makes us feel like we know her? Like we know her feelings when she painted such bold strokes, those delicate florals, her psychedelic swirls. A woman of many personas, she feels like us, I think, a bit of every woman.

Everyone's  favorite store: Anthropologie just came out with an ode to the artist: "Vera: The Art And Life Of An Icon" (but you can buy it through Amazon for nearly half the price. Shh. It's a secret.)

I just finished posting my own Vera scarves in the shop. They look so lovely, posed, draped and  well lit. I'd like to frame them up and keep them forever. Once you've found your very first Vera, there really is no going back. It's nearly an addiction, right up there with shoes and coffee.
So, to help you out with your first Vera acquisition here are some Vera finds from vintage fashionistas all over Etsy. Enjoy!

A gorgeous silk Vera scarf from The Lucky Fish (the largest collection of Vera scarves I've ever seen.)
Darling Vera in green and  lavender florals. Recycled Charm

A bold floral Vera in green and ocean blue. Vintage Society

(Obviously, I like green.) This bursting floral Vera is from Vintage Domicile

And from my own collection: neon green and pink Vera;  Dahlila Found

I'm certain you have your own favorites, but these caught my eye today. It must be my yearning for sunny days, spring weather and gardening. I hope you like them. Do share your own favorites. I would love to see them.

Fall Fashion, Vintage Scarves

I finally got a chance to go shopping yesterday. Thrifting is so relaxing and I found some wonderful items including these 3 lovely scarves that aren't even posted yet. It's 105 degrees here today. I can only do so much. ;-)
This first beauty is by Echo, long, silk in rich shades of pink and chocolate brown. Perfect for fall. Long enough to tie up in your hair or drape around your neck.
This second screams airline stewardess in this photo, so dapper. It's made in Italy by Leonardi Designs. Fabulous geometric pattern, very sporty.
And finally, vintage Anne Klein in a deep wine, cream & dusty rose, silk. All three scarves have hand rolled edgings and all are in beautiful condition. I hope to have them all posted by Sunday.
P.S. Looking forward to autumn! I'm ready to wear scarves! :-)
